With social media, you have options galore. You have your main players, Facebook and Twitter. You also have Instagram, Tumblr, Vine, Plurk, Google+, Pinterest, etc. I could list more but I think you get the point. A lot of these are also what are known as social sharing sites. There are other sites, like Delicious, Digg and Reddit just to name a few, that are social sharing sites but don’t offer the same social interactions as the other sites.
The great part about these social medias, all of them, is that you can find a way to use them in some way to help promote your company, be it a multi-million dollar corporation like Coke or a small one man Internet sales type of thing. A lot of social medias even have special business accounts that you can set up and can even pay to have them help promote and do some research for you.
But you don’t need to pay in order to use social media successfully, for personal or professional reasons. Almost every medium you could use is pretty easy to figure out, 13 year olds can do it on their cell phones, it isn’t hard. That’s part of the beauty of social media. It’s easy to use and gives you nearly unlimited ways to be creative with branding and advertising. And it can be fun.
Right now, most companies use Facebook and/or Twitter but they could expand. A creative way to help advertise your product/blog/face or whatever is by using Pinterest. Since it consists solely of visual photos/videos/graphics, you can get people clicking on your pins to get them to your site. If you have some cool pins, people will also re-pin them and spread the word. Free advertising is always pretty cool, don’t you think?
Another popular and creative idea is to use YouTube. Millions of views everyday, wouldn’t you like to get just a couple of those? Videos are relatively easy to create and inexpensive. If you want to spend thousands of dollars on a video, and have the resources, feel free. But you don’t need to. And videos can be captivating and get your name out. Plus, they can be a lot of fun. I love fun and easy and inexpensive. Who doesn’t?
